I am a second year PhD student at the University of Maryland College Park. I am primarily interested in the phonetics, phonology, and morphology of understudied indigenous languages. Most of my work has centered around Tz'utujil, a Mayan language spoken in Guatemala, and Dagaare, a Mabia language spoken in Ghana. I use a combination of analytical and experimental methods looking at the speech of both children and adults to investigate phonology and its interfaces with phonetics and morphosyntax.
When I'm not linguist-ing
I am a big animal person and recently adopted a kitten named Cheeto who has exactly two moods: perfect sleeping angel and creator of chaos. He particularly seems to enjoy knocking over my many potted plants. I have also been a swimmer since I was little and have done triathlons since undergrad. When all else fails, you can probably find me binge watching Netflix or listening to an audiobook while doing a puzzle or crocheting.
